This increases the cost and complexity of manufacturing TFT-based flexible electronics, slowing down their integration into more mature applications and limiting the design complexity achievable by foundries. Researchers in Belgium developed a stable and high-yield TFT platform for the fabless manufacturing of two mainstream TFT technologies, wafer-based amorphous indium–gallium–zinc oxide and panel-based low-temperature polycrystalline silicon, two key TFT technologies applicable to flexible substrates. Stripping down bacterial armor: A new way to fight anthrax
EurelAlert July 15, 2019 Researchers in Belgium successfully applied Nanobodies® – small antibody fragments – to control the assembly of the bacterial armor and study its structure. The Nanobodies were not only effective in preventing the armor from forming, but also proved highly efficient in breaking down existing S-layers. When applied to live bacteria, breaking down the armor slowed bacterial growth and led to drastic changes in the surface of the bacterial cell. This information can then be read out by means of a biochemical method of analysis. They wrote two programs to make the processing of information run fast and automatically. New algorithm can create movies from just a few snippets of text
Science Magazine February 23, 2018 Researchers in Belgium have developed a machine learning a neural network algorithm. During training, software assesses its performance after each attempt, and feedback circulates through the millions of network connections to refine future computations. The first stage uses the text to create a “gist” of the video, the second stage takes both the gist and the text and produces a short video.
