Wuhan Coronavirus Outbreak Suggests We Aren’t Ready for a Pandemic

According to a top biosecurity expert in the US over the past decade and a half, since the SARS outbreak in the early 2000s, it’s clear that China has built stronger public health capacity. What this outbreak is making clear is that there is no country, including the United States, that is fully prepared for a high consequence outbreak. This outbreak is obviously a bad situation and we don’t know which direction it is going to go yet.
